Sexual Offender Treatment Program

The Sexual Offenders Program serves males students 12-17 years of age, or the age of majority from the referring state, who have demonstrated sexually aggressive or inappropriate behaviors. The length of stay ranges from 9 to 24 months. The treatment focuses on victim empathy, healthy relationships, identifying and recognizing triggers, and relapse prevention. Students are prepared for victim reunification when appropriate. Specific emphases include identification of the offender’s sexual offenses and cycle, reducing denial, taking full responsibility for offenses, recognizing impact on victims, and the identification of techniques to interrupt the student’s offense cycle. Assessment tools used by the Academy include polygraph testing, the ABEL assessment, the JSSOTR and the JSOAP.
