Extracurricular Activities run in 10-week segments and explore interest-oriented activities three times a week after school.

In addition to athletics, students also participate in extracurricular activities throughout the year. These extracurriculars are organized in 10-week segments and explore a variety of interest-oriented activities that staff members have outside of working at Woodward Academy. In addition to being fun, students have the opportunity to learn valuable skills from adults who are passionate in these areas.

The extracurricular activities have proven to be a great way to foster staff / student relationships as well. Many of the instructors for these classes are not teachers by trade, but have the experience and desire to reach students outside of the school day.

World of Work

One of the longest running extracurriculars has been WOW (World of Work). This career-readiness class engages students in writing a resume and touches on filling out applications. Although students get to choose which extracurricular they participate in, this one is designed for students who will be living independently once they leave Woodward Academy.

In the past, extracurricular activities have included:

  • Gardening
  • Drama
  • Poetry Slam
  • Music
  • Journalism
  • Fitness
  • Book Club
  • World of Work
