Select Knights on campus are eligible to participate in some of the many vocational opportunities on campus and earn a wage while attending Woodward Academy. In fact, Woodward Academy has an annual student payroll of over $100,000, which has allowed students to pay back restitution owed, or save it for when they leave campus.
Each year, students are responsible for maintaining the grounds on campus through landscaping, and for keeping the administrative and education buildings clean. These job opportunities have provided great work experience for students and a way for many of them to build a work resume that is often lacking in experience. In the past, students have also taken vocational classes off campus that have included a welding course at the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).
Additional job opportunities include:
- Lawn care maintenance
- Custodial management
- Food Preparation
- Photography
